Singapore Plumeria how to prune?

I have a new singapore plumeria that has been pruned before I planted it, but I'm not sure it was done correctly. Also I would like to keep it fairly short if possible (5 ft or so) to be able to pick the flowers. Any pruning tips are appreciated. Thanks, Anu
