It was rainy and cool today but I released 5 Black Swallowtails. Four were happy to be out and this one wanted to stay a while.
New lives begin
This is my newest handicapped baby. It's right wings are folded over, not torn. It was in the glass aquarium and fell down and got caught underneath a leaf so it's wing bent and dried. It's my fault for not moving the vine inside when I thought about it a few hrs earlier so I'll raise it inside for a while. I take it out for sunshine and flowers but bring it back inside so that it doesn't fall to the ground to be eaten.
Such super clear close-ups! Beautiful!
I'm imagining them catching the west-southwest breeze tomorrow and flying all the way to my gardens where they'd be most welcome! :-)
Awesome Shots Paige! WOW! They are all just beautiful. I can't wait to have some of my own to raise. :-)
Beautiful KB!
One of my 5 that eclosed has a problem with his wings. This is the 3rd day,and he can't open them all the way behind him so he can't fly, and he's not eating. It's sad, he'll spend the rest of his time in the cage.
Just beautiful shots! And 14 Monarchs at once - I'm jealous. My last cat went into his J today.
Awesome pics Konkrete!!!
What is that red flower the black swallowtails are on?
Thanks all! Since it was cloudy yesterday the lighting was great for pics. Both the red and pink blooms are on Pentas.
Time to take the hurt one outside for a morning breath of fresh air.
Great photos everyone! I'm enjoying them. :-)
Wonderful pics everyone - nice detail on that close up Paige. One day I'll try my hand at raising, but for now I just watch. Thanks for sharing ya'll.
