Hey Mark,

Growing Tulip Poplars from seeds is tough. You'll need to scarify them somehow. I tried for years to grow them from seeds, but no luck. Then I started getting mulch from a tree trimmer. The following spring, I had tulip poplars popping up everywhere, much to my delight. I guess he trimmed some tulip poplars that were seeding. Going thru the tree trimmer's chipper nicked the seeds enough to germinate.

Good luck with your seeds.

I have a tulip poplar across the street at the edge of the woods. Every year it sends lots of seedheads into my driveway. I get all sorts of self planted tree seedlings popping up where I don't want them. LOL
The different places I have looked on how to grow them from seed says they need decomposing plant debri which is probably why they germinate in the edges of the concrete driveway where plenty of grass clippings accumulate and in mulch .

Thanks for those tips!! I'll try putting some in some compost, and nicking some others.

Mark
