I recently bought one for indoors. It is beautiful. about 4 1/2 feet tall and apparently thriving. I water it very infrequently and it seems to like that. My question is about a white film that appears around the rim and base of the terra cotta pot in which it is planted. I repotted it when it was purchased and used some standard MIracleGro potting soil I had left over from a previous project. Around the base of the pot it is almost a white moldy look - sort of fuzzy if that makes sense. Then around the rim of the pot a solid white paint-like film has appeared. It happened pretty quickly but doesn't seem to be disturbing the plant at all. There are maybe 7-8 leaves with brown tips but I think those came from before I knew not to water it regularly with my pther houseplants. Any thoughts?
Dracaena Question
Salt build-up? Try flushing well with water. Is your water hard? Alkaline deposits, and your plant is responding to the hardness with brown tips. I use reverse-osmosis water for my tropicals, not tap water.
