Never saw this before.

I love it when a calla makes a spathe-leaf and have hoped that a bloom with a spathe-leaf was possible.

Yes it is.

WOW! Plant files is lacking this plant, you know(a picture of it )...maybe you can put this up there, or at least a normal one

Gosh that is strange even for a leaf spathe!

Its a spathe within a spathe, it even has it's own little stem where the spadix should be! Remember one I had that had a tiny spathe in the middle, but without a spadix, and the main spathe was 'normal'.

It reminds me of rhododendrons when they grow a new stem in the centre of a flower, but normally don't have another flower.

Good one! And it's late too!

wallaby1~

You know, it *is* more like an extra spathe than a spathe-leaf. There isn't any of the green leaf part, so I guess it's a spathe proper?

claypa~

I'll have to post some pix to the Plant Files.......

Oh yes I would say a spathe proper, somehow I get this image of a film I saw with a man with two heads, the extra one grew on his shoulder and he talked to it!

I would put that pic in PF, after all these unusual forms are now very desirable with flower arrangers.
