I think its just like any breed but they need to be washed days ahead(same with cochins)
They need time to poof and fluff back out

I bathed two of my new silkies last night, becuase it looked like they had lice. Wow, it was so much easier than I thought it would be. They LOVED being blow dried on low setting! Who knew?

Well, I was looking to get rid of lice that my new gals came with. So I filled up my sink with warm water and shampoo, till about chest high. Then I plopped them in. THey actually seemed to like it! I used the sprayer on my kitchen sink to spreay down thier backs, and sudsed them up with the shampoo. THen I drained the sink and used the sprayer to rinse them off. I made sure not to get any in thier faces, and to make sure that the water was warm but not too hot.

THen I wrapped they up in a dry towel for about five minutes ( like swaddling a baby !) Then I removed the towel and rewrapped it using the dry part. When I was done in the kitchen, I removed the towel and blow dryed each one. The important thing about the blow drying is not to make it too hot. I used a low setting, and with a little time, it worked really well. Then I kept them overnight in the house because they were still a little damp.
