Like Scarlett O'Hara......
Sweeeet! Super nice plant and what a deal! Good catch. Isn't it Beaucarnea?
You are so right... I had a brain lock when I typed that.. LOL
:-)
I would just have to have it also. You find the deals, no doubt about it, Kyle. Amazing. I didn't even know it existed.
ohhhhhh, now that is nice!!
Isn't it fun that you can share your finds with a whole big group of plant nuts that truely appreciate them?!
Kyle,
Well, just when you think your want list is getting shorter,
they come out with a variegated version!!! LOL!!!
What a great find!!!
Congratulations!!
Janet
Wow I didn't know it existed either! Sounds like you got an excellent deal on that! You are the lucky one!!
well if they had them in Omaha they came from somewhere, must be more around out there.
:-)
kyle, does it have the fat base like the regular (green) ponitail? I'm a-hunting for it in houston, tx! gorgeous
Kyle, I am definitely coming to the Mid West to shop for plants. You do find the best plants at the best prices. I have a friend, a very knowledgeable gardener, who spent over $100 for one of those in FL this past spring. It wasn't very large either. I surely won't tell her about yours, I would hate to see a grown woman sob.
edited because I can't spell. :-((

This one already has a base forming..it will look just like the other types..just variegated.I was reading about these and the breeder took 9 years to get this form established.
Too bad they don't come true from seeds.
Ive seen them also down here but always over the $50 mark. That's a nice one
Well clearly Omaha is the center of the most desired plants universe! Years and years ago I visited Omaha and I never would have imagined. I bet those who paid over 50.00 would sob, I know I would! Excellent buy!!
Eclipse
i had a thought LOL how about going and buying me one and send it to me and lmk what i owe you LOL i LOVE variegated plants i am a freak when it comes to them thxs so much for sharing great find!!!!!!!!
moretz
It would probably be cheaper if she did that than buying it in Florida! I have to agree, I am a freak for variegated plants as well. Oh and moretz, I am still working on some cuttings and possibly may have one little one ready next week, after I am sure it has really rooted.
aprilwillis
plmk i would love to have it and what are you looking for in a trade? plmk and thxs sooooooooo much
moretz
Moretz, a Lexus would be nice.
LOL yeah i know it would,if i had one i would trade it for one of them LOL but please lmk what you would like in exchange ok?
Will do! Don't know if you are old enough to remember the watch commercials for Longinnes (sp- sorry) after the person in the commercial opened their gift, no matter what it was they always said, "Well I was hoping for Longinnes."
i dont guess i am lol thxs
moretz..its a 4 hr round trip to Omaha from des moines. when I go again I'll see what they still have.
Eclipse,
you dont have to just kidding loli would really like to have one but it can wait maybe i will get lucky and find one here, but dont make a special trip just fo rme ok thxs though and have a great day
moretz
Eclipse, might be a way to make some extra Xmas money! LOL. You could go to Omaha and buy them out, if you sell them for less than 50.00 everybody is getting a deal and you are making a killing!
Kyle...I have seen *photos* of those before, but yours has much clearer and better defined variegation than those! Nice score!
OK...I know someone in DM, IA (Ü)....so please tell...where'd you find it?!
Nan, I got it in Omaha. :-)
OH Ü
As in Nebraska, eh? LOL!!
OK...never mind.....A beauty, though!
:-)
HI Kyle,
Do you mind saying where in Omaha you find such good plant deals? I find some good deals where things are un named and because people don't know what they are . . . . they go un noticed. At the end of the season they put them on sale and then you get the deal. Sometimes in such common places as Menard's, Loews, WalMart. Haven't been to Omaha in a long time . . . hmmmm . . . time for a shopping trip?
I just sent out plants to two different DGers and I must say it is NOT my favorite thing to do. I got them dug Monday morn . . . packed up . . . took them to the PO to only find out it was a holiday. So today it was back to the PO again. Ugh!
I found this plant at Mulhalls nursery in NW Omaha. Its all a matter of being in the right place at the right time I guess. :-)
Thanks, I'll remember the name of the place.
Eclipse, I noticed there isn't an entry in PF for the variegated Beaucarnea. Can you add that nice pic and info?
Oh good idea!!!
Actually, I think there are a few photos in there, but they're under the re-classified (?) name of Nolina......I'll have to check for sure.
Here it is, but do add your photo, anyway!

We could start a whole new thread on the annoying re-classification. Don't botanists have anything better to do with their time then constantly changing the nomenclature.
Here-Here! They have been far too busy. Chamaecyparis to Xanthocyparis, Michelia to Magnolia, Beaucarnea to Nolina. What next? Homo sapien to ?
Oh I know! I am tired of learning one thing and then having to change it to another! And while we're at it, can we speak to those guys who decided Pluto is not a planet! And for heaven's sake, once a country gets a name can't it keep it?
ROFL.:-)))) Here Here!!!!!
Really, do you know how hard it is to help your kids w/ geography when they are talking about a country that you've never heard of?! LOL.
