One of my gardens

North Augusta, ON

Not sure if I can do this, never tried it before. This is a pic of my front bed, right up against the road.

Very pretty! Love all the color. What is the plant that is taller center back with the lovely soft pink flowers? It is gorgeous.

Thank you all...the tall pink one center back is a giant clump of phlox

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi there threeG - you aren't REALLY a zone 3 in Brockville are you? We're a 5A in Ottawa and aren't you warmer down by the river?

Anyway, I see you've been on DG for awhile, but I don't recall meeting you before this. Nice to see your garden. Love that big Hibiscus and the other flowers are pretty too. Now that you've successfully put one picture up, let's see some more, please.
If you come to Ottawa, let me know and maybe we can have lunch.

Hi Ann..thank you and if I ever get to Ottawa I will look you up. As for the zone..well..I am about half an hour north of brockville, when I checked the zone map I went by the coldest temperature...I can recall times here when it gets to be -45 for a week or so, maybe I did it wrong? If that's the case, it opens up a whole new world of plants I can sneak into my garden...lol

Thank you...changing my zone now. I will post more pics as soon as I learn how to get them from my cell phone to my computer...lol..I am still new to this technology.

Beautiful garden, threegardeners! Luv your hugh pink hibiscus! Do you know the name of it? Does it overwinter in your garden?

Thank you Donna, I used to know the name of it..have had it for 7 years now. Kind of remember it being a "black something". I have 10 of them all different colours. The next best bloomer to that one is called "Texas Rose". They overwinter just fine here, although they are slow to pop up in the spring. Just when I think they are dead, I give them another couple weeks...lol. I have had great success starting them from cuttings, I discovered this by accident when I snapped a branch a few years back..I stripped the leaves off and stuck it in a pot of soil, it rooted in no time. This is how I share them with people who stop by and want a piece, I know they hate to have their roots disturbed so I refuse to dig them up and divide them, although I have moved them by digging up well around them after a heavy rain, and moving the entire clump (usually involves a wheelbarrow and a strong man ) this way they don't know they have been moved.

Very nice, I, too, love your hibiscus. Which other ones do you have?

I was in Brockville this summer. My DD's inlaws live there.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

ThreeG - Ottawa is about an hour north of Brockville - well, OK, maybe just a bit east too and maybe just a bit more than an hour depending on where one starts in Ottawa. Are you in a rural area north of Brockville? If so, you could be down to a 4b zone, but any way you look at it, you've got more possibilities. ;-) Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving.

Afternoon all :)
Brugcrazy; Thank you, I don't know the names of the others..they were found without tags in the 99 cent clearance bin of a temporary garden center in the area..they only had a couple leaves left but I bought em and put em in the garden and they have thrived, blood red, white with a pink middle, pink, red, couple whites. Sorry I can't name them

ViolaAnn; I am pretty much halfway between Brockville and Ottawa in a rural village, I don't get the warming from the river so you are probably right about 4b,but when buying I tend to go by zone 3 just to be safe, unless it's something I really want then I will gamble. For instance, Rose of Sharon..have tried many times, but no matter how good I mulch or how protected they are, they will not survive here, and I know you can grow them and so can Brockville. Hope you are having a good Thanksgiving as well...me, I am stuffed like the turkey..lol

Love your garden threegardeners. Most of my favourites are pink and you have arranged things very nicely there. Welcome to Dave's Garden.
