But what is it? I saw this yesterday at Brookgreen Gardens and it made quite a statement.

That's Furcraea foetida medi picta. Common name is False Agave

It's a pretty neat plant. Thailand had them all over the place. You can buy them on eBay as well.

Here are the ones I bought on eBay last year. The green form grows a lot quicker which makes sense.

Cool; I have seen one nearby where I live (a HUGE one) and always wondered what it was. I'll be looking for one of those now.

I bought one from Buried_Treasure.net this year. I had to have it.

I bought one too this year too. It is just so bright, I love it. It is in a 5 gallon pot. I am hoping it makes it over winter. I understand it will tolerate the cold but not the all the rain we get in the winter.

Anyone have some helpful hints on their care.

The variegated ones are so pretty!
