wow, do doubles really take longer to bloom or what?

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

I have been watching this poor bloom on my EDW for exactly one week now. I saw tiny tendrils poking out on September 28. Granted, the weather has been crazy with highs in the mid 80's the last two days, and today's high at 58, but come on. Does it really take over a week for these to bloom? I'm running out of good weather!!
Here it is today....

What a tease it is! LOL. I find the hot weather gets them going but the cold weather slows them down but also it keeps them fresh longer too. Heat ages them fast.

I'd be goin nutz too... I have "micro" buds on Creamsickle that are just now starting to fatten up and do something.. so I can relate! This will be my first double bloom experience, so I'm glad you posted this.. might have saved me some stress! :) Do post when it opens.. looks so pretty.

Every morning the first thing I do is see what has opened. With 30s at night and 60s daytime, it is taking forever! Some I have never seen bloom before. Teasing is NOT a good word! Grrrrr....

I am glad I am not alone with this problem!! I have yet to see EDW bloom, because it would drop all the buds, or the buds would break off before it got to this point. I really think it was because the plant was too small.
Oh, and no progress today on the bloom. My other two are blooming like crazy!! And fast!!
Maybe if I could find a way to just help it along.... ;)
