CLOSED: Variegated Ginger

Albrightsville, PA(Zone 4a)

I forgot the name of this one. It's not hardy for me. Interested in named daylilies.

Pam: Do you know what its hardiness limits are?

Tacoma, WA(Zone 8a)

How many daylilies do you want for trade?

Viv - just one lily would do.

Devon, I don't know what zone it is hardy to.

What color are you wanting.. in daylilies? trying to narrow it down a bit... LOL

I like something two toned - with an edge or an eye. I'm open to any color.

I have Oaks daylily Purple Pinwheel for trade.

I think it's alpinia zerumbet - variegated shell ginger, hardy in zones 8 and above. But in zone 8, where it will die back during the winter, it won't bloom for you. It blooms on old growth. But the foliage alone is amazing, isn't it?

Albrightsville, PA(Zone 4a)

Thanks, Nancy. So will it bloom if it's greenhouse grown? This has never died back because it's been inside for the winter.

Tacoma, WA(Zone 8a)

It will be protected.... I want blooms...LOL

Is it easy to overwinter dormant in a garage? It is so stunning -- and likes shade, to boot~
