I purchased a Black Dragon quite a while ago, I think the same week 2pugdogs did, from David at a Touch of the Tropics. It had some blooms on it, but right after I planted it, we had a really nasty wind storm/heat wave and the buds dropped off :-( Well, the plant is wonderfully healthy now and has 8 buds. The very first one opened up today, and I should have 2 more opening probably tomorrow and the next day. The plant has grown leaps and bounds since I've planted it too. I know a lot of you have this flower and I've been drooling over your pictures patiently (not!) waiting for mine to bloom.
It's just as beautiful as I hoped, and I'm so excited!! I planted it by a Silverado rose (lt. purple), a lovely gardenia and some sword fern, and I really think Black Dragon will be "popping" with those complimentary colors next door :-)
I'm the only "plant freak" I know in "real life", so I've just got to share!! Thanks to the inspiration I've received from all of you, my yard currently looks like hibiscus paradise!
