Can you tell me who I am?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Last night when I was Wally World a bromeliad jumped up and landed right in my cart and said he was going home with me. I tried to argue with him but he would not let up. So here he is, unable to remember his name, just like I do sometimes. I never knew plants could get CRS (Can't Remember Stuff) but he can't remember anything. So I told him that he could stay and maybe we could contact the people on DG to see if any of you know what his name is. So does anyone know what his it is? If so, please let us know. I know he will be so happy to find out his real name. He really does not like being called Mr. B. LOL

Thanks,
Jesse

It looks like cryptanthus Elaine. Did you get this at Wal-Mart?

Here are my recent buys at Wal-Mart (that includes the cool looking cyclamen).

Hi all, It is Cryptanthus "Elaine", Wow ! Your Walmart's get much nicer plants than ours...Gorgeous cyclamen! unusual leaf markings hcmcdole!! Great nabs! Favorite crypt. and generous with it's pups! Bright indirect light will keep her/him looking "in the pink"!! sue

Thanks for naming my plant. I'm going to go back there again and see if there is anything else that I want. They have tons of pansies and there's look better than the ones I saw at HM and a lot cheaper too. I will be going back again tonight.

Yes, a nice Elaine. You never know what treasures you might find at WalMart, Target, or Lowes. The Lowes here often gets very nice and unusual succulents.

Sometimes either our HD or Walmart will have a good collection, especially if you get there first and get to pick through and get all of the good ones. It is a shame that some people tear them all apart looking for that special one. I like to find the best ones too but I don't ruin the rest so that others get there to find things all torn to pieces.

Hey folks, Just came back from Lowes, and they did have a lot of succulents in nice pots..why o why do they put these light loving little plants UNDER the racks so they get no light!!!! i try and rescue some by putting them on top to get light..now they are probably all burned up...lol!! oh well. I try...sue

Closest I could find was bromelia balansae or alsodes.

Check this out.

It's a Bromelia, but identification is not easy. See the article in
http://fcbs.org/ (Select the Uncle Derek link and go down to Bromelias)
These plants get very large and extremely spiny.
Dave.
