I found a seed pod on my Obscura last month. I found it open today before the seeds blew away. Has anybody been sucessful at sprouting and growing from seed?

Seed pod
Tami, I received a seed pod on my H. heuschkeliana from Carol. I germinated them and they are nice size little tiny babies now. However I didn't have any lick with the australis pod she sent, none of them germinated for me.
TamiF,
How did you germinate them, Please.
Tami
When your pod opens take the seeds, and all the sluff, I believe that is what Carol called it, and put it on a wet paper towell, slide the paper towell into a gallon ziplock. Blow air into it and keep it some where warm. I put mine on a heating mat. It's really gonna be a mess as the sluff is like cob webs. In about 5 days to a week you should see germination. I let mine get it's first set of leaves in the bad, then I transplanted them into a aluminum pie tin with perlite and soil. I treated them the same way but just slide the tin into a bigger ziplock. Good Luck it is really fun to grow your own little ones. I'm sure there are different ways of germinating them. Oh you should do it as soon as you can as the seeds are only viable for so long.
Tami...my obscura has been pollinated several times this summer...I wonder what is doing it. Of course....it's fine by me! I took the fresh seeds and planted them, most of the fluff removed, on some damp soil and closed the pots up in a ziploc. Those seeds germinated overnight! And now I've got about 5 more pods developing....I'm going to be up to my ears in obscura pretty soon (grinning)!

Hey Kim,
Just kidding Ann W. just sent me the best package of hoyas. I haven't even had time to look them up, but they are doing fine so far. I've never seen a seed pod on hoyas. I've had a h. compacta for awhile and I have had lots of flowers but no pods.

Oh Kim that sounds like a good way too, sounds like it worked faster than my method. I could handle obscura's hanging out my ears. I would hope people would have the courtesy not to stare... You are so lucky girl....
TamiF and Kim, Thanks for the ideas. I have them started in Paper towells but think I will move them into little pots later this morning. I think it might be esier than planting them when they are small sprouts. Why I'm up at 2:45, I have no Idea. Thanks again for the help.
Kim, So looking forward to meeting you Saturday.
Tami
blue: I would be more than happy to help you with your expanding obscura population
; )
My seedlings are quite small right now.....just gotten their third leaf and it's so much larger than the first two. I'm probably going to separate them out some soon...when I get some time...lol. As for the other seed pods, they are coming along. I am just hoping the weather changes that are coming don't cause them any problems. And this time I have to remember to cover them before they open. When these guys get bigger, I'd be more than happy to share them!
Tami....thanks again for a wonderful trade. I received some nice rooted hoyas as well as some other plants....a nice big sago palm and clerodendrum and some alocasias. I had a great time at the swap and was glad to get to meet a fellow hoya addict.
:) Kim
Kim,
I have been real busy but not a day has passed since Saturday that I haven't looked at my new plants and thought of you. Thanks so much for sharing your Hoyas with me. I hope you enjoy the other plants as well as the few hoyas we traded. It was great meeting you. I was so glad you made the trip.
Tami
