New Bloomers

This was labled as Bilobata. It is a Tsangii I'm pretty sure.

...Now called DS-70. One of my favorites. I've heard some people can smell the flowers - I can't. Mine bloom several times a year and is pumping them out by the handful now. Congrats!

I think they smell great. However, I never can smell bella flowers. I thought it was just my plants, or climate, or care or something. However, as we were leaving the porch the other night, Paul said, "Oh that plant is blooming & the flowers smell so nice". I looked at him like he'd just flipped out. I went over & tried real hard to smell something....nope....nada. I guess nice smells are in the nose of the beholder. Ha. (he has a strange nose anyway...he thinks cummingiana flowers smell like Pine Sol. Ha Ha)

I can't smell anything. Maybe when it first opened I should have smelled it.
Marcy, I will try to keep in mind the Pine Sol smell with my cummingiana when it blooms. LOL

What temp to do you keep yours in the winter? I have mine out in the unheated sunroom right now and it has peduncles on it. I really want to see it bloom. My lucanosa is blooming really well also. It was doing really well outside. Then i brought it in and some of the buds burst(is that right) but it has recovered and is blooming really nicely I also have 2 carnosa's out there along with a kentiana(sp?).

Dawn,
Mine are still out in the Heat. I'm in Texas just north of Houston. Mine like it under the shade of an Oak tree. They get some filtered sun and then full sun at the end of the day. I've had more blooms this year than ever. As these grow I'm sure blooms will be more plentiful. This is my first year for having most of mine.

Tami...does it get cold at night where you are at? We are having some night temps dip into the 55 degree range now, so a lot of mine are coming in for the winter now. I do leave some out all winter though.

Mairzee_dotes, what zone are you?

Long Beach, CA

I am in zone 10, near as I can tell. However, I don't think it stays as warm in winter here as it does in Florida in zone 10. (nor is it humid as there). We are near the coast here, but there are many mini climate zones around Southern Calif. Just depends on where you live wheather you will get any frost or not. It usually only goes down into the low 40s here at night.

Marcy,
It hasn't gotten that cold here yet. We are supposed to get a cold front in on Tuesday. I think I am in zone 9A. I don't dig my Plumerias up and bring them in until the end of November. I hate Winter.
