Look What's Blooming!

Madison, WI(Zone 4b)

These guys only have 1 1/2 weeks to go to showtime so I thought I would share them with you. They are all sitting on one shelf.
They are as follows: The Alps, Apache Freedom, and YUKAKO!

I bought the last one as a baby at convention in May and look at what it has done. I don't have the heart to top it so I have been putting down lots of bloom stalks.

Nancy WOW Their Gorgous ! Can't wait to see pictures of your Blue and more ribbons next to them ! Good Luck :))

Apache Freedom is absolutely gorgeous. Sigh...another one for the Wish List I bet you'd get high bids for leaves on any one of the three, but with foliage like that on the Apache Freedom, it would be popular. I'd sure bid!

Oh My That Apache Freedom is Amazing! What a Beauty! Oh I bet that your Yukako would fetch quite the good amount on Ebay! I know I would bid! : ) Wonderful Plants Nancy!! WOW!!!! Nancy/cedarnest

Madison, WI(Zone 4b)

I have a young Apache Freedom that is growing just as nicely as the big one. I would be willing to shares leaves with some of you next year. Don - I'm sorry you don't live here in the states. I won't send it across the border.
And I decided to check those little bloomstalks of Y. that were planted months ago. Two of them are now producing teeny weey babies. Those will probably go up for sale next year.

No problem, Nancy. I understand and don't blam you a bit. I'll watch for it though here in Canada. We have some good resources. I have already added it to my ebay "watch list". Thanks for sharing.

The plants are wonderful. What a beautiful sight for me to see as I return to the forum. Have missed everyone. I expecially love Apache Freedom.

Missed you Nanna and all your beautiful blooming plants ! How are you plants doing !

Thanks Allison. My batteries are recharging. Pictures, tomorrow. Plants are doing OK. I lost many to a mysterious pest. I finally strayed with insecticidal soap with neem AND lessened the amount of light and things are doing better. I have many young plants that should start budding soon.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Nanna sounds like your plants are doing great ! Sorry about your mysterious pest . It's always fun to grow new ones. Lot's of times their even prettier and nice grown plants beinig use to their enviroment and all

Gorgeous, Nancy! I hope you get lots of ribbons and most of all have a great time. You got a good amount of blossoms on your 'Yukako' evenly spaced and that 'Apache Freedom' is so very pretty. One of my favorites for sure. 'The Alps' is lookin' super. Good luck!

Have you ever grown chimera 'Kiwi Dazzler'. ? That one is very eyecatching and gets a good amount of bloom that seems to last. Makes a good show plant.

I sold my Kiwi Dazzler many years ago because I had several babies coming. Guess what! They all bloomed solid :( It is a very pretty plant and maybe someday I shall find it again.

Since hearing about the loss of your Kiwi Dazzler, I decided to 'decapitate' mine (take a crown cutting) in order to propagate more of this variety. I will post a thread on this process so others can see how I do mine. You can put your name on one of the Kiwi Dazzlers. Should be ready by spring for sure.

Oh, I just want to tell you, Nancy, on Yukako, I have my original plant from which I have potted up 6 crown babies and now have 7-8 new crown babies growing back. This plant has been more than obliging :0)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Great way but I did it a few times and lost my plants . But have many friends who do it with great luck ! We had a forum and few threads of this floating around and in our Sticky ! Love to see you r step by step pictures too !
I started to be safe and just take a crown leaf off which makes the plant sucker. I do this with trailers too.
I love it when Chimeras give me lots of Blossom Basket Babies !

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

WOW

Madison, WI(Zone 4b)

Okay Snowrose - one of those Kiwi Dazzlers is mine! This is what I may have to trade next year in chimeras so pick out one! (Better make it two in case I don't have a baby of the first one).

Decelles' Caresse - Emerald City - Granger's Sugar Frost - Moonlight Magic - Northern Reflections - Pony Ride - Roulette - Satin 'n' Lace - Tanya's Beauty - The Alps

I also have Breezy Brea and Fancy That but they are too little to do anything with yet. My Debon's Rosey Posey is only available thru e-Bay.

Allison - I always top my chimeras, put the small unrooted plant in an enclosed container for a couple of weeks, and then when it has roots it gets wicked. The bottom part of the plant is not treated any differently from any other violet and before you know it suckers begin to appear.

OK, Nancy, you got it. I really like this variety. Plus it is registered so you can show it and showy it is.

How about Granger's Sugar Frost or Satin 'n' Lace? I love Breezy Brea but I wish Travis would get around to registering it.

Madison, WI(Zone 4b)

I don't think Dave will ever register Breezy Brea and that's okay. I have enough other registered varieties that I can show. I have bloomstalks of both Satin 'n' Lace and Granger's Sugar Frost that have teeny plantlets growing. They should be just the right size by next spring!
