I have two questions regarding my standard size Ameraucanas who have started laying eggs.
1) Even though they are regular size birds, their eggs are small - half the size of the brown eggs that are being laid by my Rhode Island Reds. When, and will, the eggs get larger like the brown eggs??
2) Does anyone know what makes Ameraucanas' eggs different colors? So far, all the eggs have been pale green, except for yesterday's, which is tanish-pink. Today, we're back to pale green. -- Does diet, hormones, stress, etc., determine the color?
Thanks for any help you can give!

2 Questions regarding the Ameraucana's eggs... :>
HI there! My hen always laid greenish-grey to bluish-green eggs, depending on the day.
I'm not sure why the eggs are small, maybe just because they are new at this?
My hen's yolks were always super orange, so don't let that shock you if you have the same!
Mine started out small then they get larger..
Thanks Moodene, that's good to know. They've already started getting (a little) larger, but not by much. I won't worry about them, then... Thanks for letting me know!
