I have 3 eucomis bulbs that I have dug from the garden for the winter. Should I transplant them into pots and winter them in my Gh or should I store them in a cool dark basement. If I winter them in the GH what do they need for water and sun. Thanks, Patti

I've several Eucomis; what I do is take the pot and place it in the basement till the next spring. At that point I sometimes divide and repot, sometimes just redo the top couple of inches with new medium.
the pic is my favorite Eucomis - Pole-Evansii.

jmorth, funny you should be the one who responded as I had done a search and I had seen some of your post and was going to Dmail you, but thought that might me a bit of a unwanted intrusion. Thanks for the advice and the terrific pic of Eucomis - Pole-Evansii. I will pot them up and put them in the basement. Thanks, Patti

Patti, I have 3 of them. They are planted right next to my house. I don't dig them up and they have come back for 4 years. I am considered zone 6a also, but only because we live near one of Michigans Great Lakes and that keeps us from going under -10 degrees, otherwise we are pretty much zone 5b.

Wow, that PE is awesome!

I just love Eucomis, I so wish I could leave them in the ground like I did in England.

I have had success just letting them die back in their pots and storing them indoors. No summer garden should be without them!
