Please help !? :( I was fortunate enough to acquire two beautiful 5 ft tall hibiscus for free. They had been outdoored all summer at my husband's office. I have transplanted them, watered, fed and brought them indoors and placed in my southern exposure windows. Sadly, neither has a leaf left on it. I am praying that they are in shock. I only sprayed them with soapy water before bringing them indoors, they have been indoors for about two weeks. The branches are still flexible and have life in them. Is there something else I should do or let them come back in their own time?? Many thanks!
Sad Hibiscus
Leave them alone. Hibiscus are very temperamental, when I put them in the GH for winter they loose all there leaves (what a mess), but around March they start coming back. I have even had mine bloom and there wouldn't be a leaf on it.
But since you have it in the house it should be alright. I only hope they didn't have them sitting in a saucer of water. I know 2 years ago I lost my tree because I had it sitting all summer in a saucer. It kept the roots wet and they rotted. Being in the house hopefully the leaves will start coming back once it gets used to its new environment.
Thank you for the reply. I have emptied the bottom saucer of all water so that they aren't sitting in water and after I went further into some of the other threads i found a suggestion of atouchoftropics.net and theyhad all sorts of info. Of course i did most wrong, but Ithink they will survive also.
When you are ready to water your hibiscus next you might try mixing h202 in the water to help the roots with oxygen. This is a good aid to a plant that may have been over watered. Especially if your hibiscus was setting in a saucer filled with water.
