It was held on Sat Sept 30, and Sun Oct 1st. I went on Sunday.. Planned on spending all 5 hrs there. From 10-3pm. There were lectures, each 45 min long on various issues concerning pond keeping. To be honest, i was quite disappointed. I was hoping to learn more, but instead, heard the 'same old, same old'. The only thing i did learn tho, was that without frequent water changes, the fish, over time, secrete an 'anti-growth' hormone, which may explain why some koi dont get as big as others do. Have any of you heard that before? I havent.
I wound up leaving at 2pm... I was sooo disappointed with the second to last lecture.. " Water gardens, Koi pond or both?"
Seems the original speaker had to be replaced.. The person who spoke really said a whole lot of nothing. Never went into detail about the different pumps/filters that can be used, never really explained the difference between a water garden and koi pond either. The people there, seemed confused... and those that did ask a question, seemed to know more then the speaker.
I did enjoy viewing all the fish there.... gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.. ive never seen some of the color patterns before. I did find a local breeder of Koi, who's fish i liked very much. I just may put in yet another pond for some of those, that i will buy in springtime.
