Hi everyone:

I'm a newbie to the DG website. I came across the site when searching for info for one plant or another in the past and decided it's time to subscribe! So much interesting info about people and their plants!

I have been interested in plants since moving to Florida in 1967, but didn't actually have a real garden of my own until 1975 when we bought our home. I love any and all plants, pretty much. I remember many years ago making the statement that I wouldn't mind having a "weed garden", because there were so many interesting looking and some pretty weeds! Well, I began my gardening with not weeds, but house plants, since back then we were in an apartment and I didn't have any dirt to dig in, nothing but concrete parking area ..... all that concrete ..... what a waste! My husband of 37 years and I still have a concrete driveway and sidewalk. I would love to take all that concrete up and just have a natural sand/shell or even mulch driveway, but my husband just shakes his head and rolls his eyes at me whenever I've suggested that! We've lived in Daytona Beach, Florida since 1973 and will be here for another 8 years until my hubby retires! The plan at that time is to downsize to a townhouse and a 50' Trawler to travel the waterways for awhile. But, I will still have to have a few flowers and plants, even on a boat! It sounds a bit strange, but it is possible!

Here in Central Florida we are able to garden pretty much year round. We have to mow our lawn 9 months out of the year, which is a bummer, but I have a sister and her family who live in Lauderdale and they mow all year! So, I guess I can't complain too much!

Sure look forward to reading and chatting with all you other "plant people" out there in DG land, and I'm sure I will have many questions about different plants and flowers that y'all can help me with!

Hey Garden6:

Thanks for the welcome. Today is day 5 for me on the DG site and I've made friends already! So many great plant people with such great advice! I'm really lovin it! I have been gardening and enjoying all kinds of plants for 39 years but the older I get, the less I retain in my brain! LOL
I used to know all the botanical as well as common names of all my plants .... but have forgotten a lot over the years ... age does that to ya sometimes! But, it doesn't bother me .... I don't really care what the plants name is .... if I like the looks of it, I want one and that's that! Ha Ha

I already made my first trade and am so excited! This is really a fun site! I really the photo sharing!

I need to find a Trash to Treasure site .... I'm interested in garden art .... wish I could find some good cast off's for my garden!
