Hi folks,
I've posted some pics of my dining room on the decorating forum -

Anyone out there who likes to play decorator? I need some advice on a paint color.

Calling would-be interior designers - need help
I like those suggestions of sage green type color which I really like myself! I have a fairly dark sage in my front hall - my other rooms are burgundy(living room) and forest green(den)a 3 tone sponged green in the hall and stairwell, peach in the kitchen and raspberry in my bedroom! I love the colors!
I forgot to check - what is on the floor? And you didnt mention any windows?

Hi there,
Oak parquet flooring typical of a 1970 house. One large window in the corner of the room on the south side which is on the wood panelled wall. Pretty well floor to ceiling and about30 inches or slight more wide. Lots of light in the winter. Not so much in summer because there is a Linden tree not too far from the house outside. Have vertical blinds which need to be replaced but am thinking sheer curtains that can easily be pulled back to let light in.

hi all!
I've done my 'L' shaped dining/living room mauve ( a pale-ish purpley a hint of grey) 'silver lilac' i think was the name ........
The room has a picture window facing north-west, with light thru the dining room/family room on the south.
Depending on the time of day and time of year, the room looks a pale cool grey,(after sunset year round) warm rosey mauve (Jan thru March) or decidedly mauve(every bright sunny days)......
February evenings is my favourite colour, when the room reflects the same rosey-mauve colour as the sunset.....
Light maple hardwood floors, dark antique piano and med dark wood diningroom, (buffet, hutch, table & chairs) antique side tables, and bookcase, and a really decrepit and worn wing chair.
Picture window is dressed in a scarf, beige with darker beige & charcol leaves.....
First off voiletAnn i have to say wow what a china cabnet.
have you ever though about a yellow color for your walls, wood looks, so good next to it and i wouldnt paint out your panalling .
Theres a paint color called peanut butter its in the yellow family of colors i think sico paints have it.
good luck with it.
Hi Digging,
Thanks for your suggestions. It's been a very light creamy color for the last 15 years. This time I decided I wanted different. There is a good chance that it will end up as the Benjamin Moore 146 Wedgewood Grey which is really a sort of seafoam blue-green. Brings out colors in most of my art and the carpet in the central hall and living room. Will most likely take the Benjamin Moore color chip to the store that sells Sico. They are on special for another week.
The wall unit was acquired piece by piece in the late 70's and ealy 80's - Hundevad - Danish design. I really enjoy it and marvel at how well it's made both inside and outside every time I oil it. One of the best things I've ever bought and very flexible in how I use it - can be together or separate pieces and for years after we built our kitchen and enlarged the dining room, I had one section on the wall where the small side table is now. the wall unit isn't available any more, but if you every see if second hand, snap it up. They also came in oak and rosewood.
