My youngest babes! Chuck (the lazy one lying down) will be 14 years old in April. He's great....he waits until you walk away from him, then he walks between your legs, but....only females. I'm used to it and always prepared for it, but when a female comes to visit, they are greeted at the door by "come on in, make yourself at home, but don't turn your back on Chuck". I'm not sure, but I guess he has taken the term "sweeping her off her feet" to an extreme....he's such a charmer. Unfortunately, he is not aware that he's rather large, he thinks he fits on your lap just fine! We got him when he was just 6 weeks old, and his daddy's special talent was going behind you and pulling your pants down. I guess his mischeviousness is genetic. It has become less pronounced though, Chuck only pulls your socks off. In our house, shoes or slippers are a must unless you're ok with bare feet. Oh...did I mention he talks back to me? Whenever I scold him (hardly ever....he seldom gets in trouble, yeah right!) he looks me right in the eye and talks right back....it's hilarious! He's such fun, he's definitely my sweetie, spoiled rotten, just as he should be. Now Mollie....we've only had her for a couple years. We have no idea how old she is, or what her history is. She was rescued from a kill shelter, my son found her pic on the internet, (there's a great story behind this, I'll tell you if you're interested) I called about her, and the next day I went to pick her up. She's the total opposite of Chuck. She is quiet, elegant in a bag-lady sort of way (you can see by her pic that she HATES to be brushed), her hair is always flying in a thousand different directions. When we got her, she was recovering from pneumonia, and it left her lungs damaged. She doesn't bark, insteat makes a weird sort of croaking sound, which she emphasizes with jumping up and down on her front paws at dinnertime. It's quite a spectacle. Her coat is not at all as pretty and shiny as Chuck. Obviously in her past she was not very well taken care of. I believe she was probably from a mill, she has a tattoo on her belly. But....she's with us now, so she fell uptown. She is such a gentle soul, when she wants attention, she lays her head in your lap....and refuses to leave until she has had a sufficient amount of petting, and if you stop before she is ready, she lets you know by moving your arm with her nose until you start petting her again. She is such a love. Both are my treasures, and I feel so blessed to have them in my life. I think those of us who are loved by our pets are the luckiest creatures of all!
