How deep to you plant them if planting in pots indoors in early spring? How long till they germinate?

I planted just below the surface laid the seed on top and polked it down under, mine rooted in about 4 days. But I soaked before I planted in water and h202 over night.

I plant them in early March with just enough soil to cover them. I place a piece of wax paper over the pot/flat to help maintain moisture until they sprout. Keep them warm and in a sunny spot.
They germinate in a week or two and usually bloom by mid September.
I don't soak or do anything special to them.
