Can someone tell me how to keep the bees out of my hummingbird feeders? I just filled with sugar water yesterday and it's almost empty and the hummingbirds aren't drinking it, the bees are. The hummingbirds won't even come around anymore. :-( Thanks in advance.

bees in feeder
Hi weegy, I haven't had this problem and I'm not sure what type of feeder you have but heres a few suggestions. First move the feeder to a different location. Make sure there are no drippings of sugar water on the outside of the feeder when you hang it. I'm not sure how true it is but some people say that yellow feeder ports attracts bees and wasps so that might be another consideration. The only time I had a problem with bugs was when I had a window feeder that had very large ports and I was finding all types of things floating inside. Hope this is of some help its all I can think of right now. Good Luck :-)
I usually put butter bowl lids with nectar in it for the bee's when they are a problem. They flock to it since it is very easy to feed from and leave the feeders alone
