Which Hedychium?

The flowers were so small and orderly on the stems of this one.

Looks like Hedychium coccineum or one of its hybrids or forms. There are several including H. 'Disney' and H 'Orange Brush' or H. 'Honduras Form'. Go to

to find more photos and explanation of this.

Hedychium hybrids and named cultivars have gotten hopelessly mixed up in the horticultural trade and unfortunately there is no cultivar registry to give us an official description. The Singapore Botanic Garden tried to start one several years ago but apparently it has not gotten very far.

The form usually sold as 'Disney' is shorter than some of the others, growing to less than 4 ft. tall. I have one I received just as H. coccineum that grows to 5 feet tall and another that I received as H. 'Disney' that grows to 7 feet tall.

Thanks Dave, I believe it is the Disney. From your pictures it looked like that one had the smaller flowers and the rows were more orderly.
