Fall Pond Pictures

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Since fall is here, I took some recent pictures of my first-year pond with pumpkins strategically "planted" :o) Just thought I'd share. Happy fall and happy ponding.

A long-distance shot, trees are starting to turn...(I can't believe how quickly summer went!)

This is taken from my dining room window. The area between the ponds still needs to be finished...I'm trying to decide what to do with it...

More tenants - check out the little goldie in the mid-right. Her little face reminds me of a dolphin - so that's her name.

This is clearly a "girl's shed"...only girl tools allowed!!!

Lastly, the stair path I built out of leftover rocks. This final project pretty much "did me in" for the rest of the year. The only reason I'm looking forward to winter is so that I can rest and recover from all my aches and pains!! :O)

Your pond is awesome !!!
Your new bridge looks much better than the ladder you had.
When you have your pond tour put me on your list.

Enjoy, Mark

Great pond. Everything looks so natural. I can tell a lot of thought went into this project. Wonderful.

Wow!

Makes my pond seem so. . . plain???? Guess I have to start a new Honey-Do list. LOL. Your work is an insperation. We want to put in a larger pond in spring or next fall. I can't wait to share your pics with my Honey.

Absolutely, breathtaking pictures.

Thanks to all for your comments. 1251casey - I can totally relate. Last year I built my first pond - it was much smaller and a bit "plainer" as you put it. I guess it's true what "they" say...once you build a pond, you'll quickly begin thinking of ways to enlarge it!! But truly, a watergarden is a special thing. No matter how small or large, each is beautiful just because of what it is! Enjoy.

Here's my favorite nephew with my largest bull frog.

I have now shared your pics with all my neighbors. Next thing you know we're going to be considered a "water front" community. Everyone wants one now. LOL. As for expanding, I'm already figuring out a stream to connect the existing one and waterfall for a much larger pond. My only concern is the pipes and wires inbetween. I have a drainpipe right around the place I want to put it. I know I can do it, just going to need some serious planning!

Your pond is beautiful. I want one so badly and my DH keeps telling me no. I guess I need to show him some pictures, on how to do a thing of beauty, like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Gosh, that is a beautiful pond and setting. Who could ask for more than having a view like that from your dinning room window. Very nice! Love Dolphin!

Absolutely gorgeous! You've done an amazing job with a sloping yard!

We all know where you hang out every day now! Thanks for sharing. :-)

You'll have to share some winter photos with us soon, too!

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone for your comments. I hope to get some winter photos. I'm still trying to convince hubby to let me run it until the first good snow fall. He's worried about frozen pipes (I am too...) if we lose power. Becky - I do spend every spare moment hanging out around my stream and pond. It is so peaceful and relaxing. The other night I had a lot of work to do, so I took my laptop outside to the table by my stream and worked by candlelight! It was great!!

Absolutely beautiful. Looks like something out of a gardening magazine, it sure is pretty enough to be putin one of those magazines.

You really did alot this past year.

You really need a big pat on the back too. I'd be down with my back too after all this.

Thank you so much for your great pictures.

Only ONE ?? LOL

Your pictures are absolutely awesome. They barely look real!

I think the biggest item on my dream list anymore is rocks! My creativity and gardens are being stifled by lack of rocks! :)

Badseed ~ Have you thought of hypertufa rocks.... I've seen pics of some awesome looking stuff.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I've actually thought a lot about the tufa! Problem is time. I need 30 hour days. LOL

Hornick, IA(Zone 4b)

Badseed: at my age I need twice that many hours per day LOL
Had my pond right at 10 years and don't have all the rocks around the edge yet.
There is too much to enjoy in life to get it all done in one day.
The job I started last night will deffinatly take more than one day. Cleaning out the falls filter. Great fertilizer though, Shut the falls down for the winter. Only going to clean on nice days. LOL

Joshua, TX(Zone 8a)

The is absolutely FABULOUS!!! I am truly envious. I liked my pond just fine, til I saw yours. :) I need you near me to give me some pointers. Do you not have problems when it rains with the water coming down into the pond; How did you make that happen? ~~~ Carol

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Hi Carol,

Thanks for the compliments. I don't have much trouble with rainwater. If it downpours for a long period of time, the pond overflows a bit at the filters, but the large rocks around the edges prevent most runoff from entering the pond. I thought the stream would overflow in heavy rains, but it hasn't been a problem at all this year (and it's been a wet summer here). Keep enjoying your pond. There are always things to do, improve and change - but a pond is always beautiful, no matter the shape, size or type! I already have plans for changing some parts of mine...a pond builder's job is never really done! :o)
