Stupid brug question:

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

I brought my pink brug in when it turned cold. The blooms have been beautiful. I know any of the plant if it is eaten is poisonous, can you tell me if the scent of the plant will do anything to us in an enclosed area, house? Really curious.

Boy look at those green, green leaves. So beautiful!

Oh Marie, YES.... you will all get high as kites. LOL. Or maybe death by odiferous ecstasy.

Actually that is a good question, there is a commercial that says if you can smell it you know you are inhaling it.

I would say no it won't hurt you but I really have no clue at all.

Marie, my first year of growing them was year before last and started in the winter because, of course, that is when people pruned them. I had about 25 of them in my bedroom. I am still here to tell you about it. However, they did not bloom in there. I think that is what Kell is teasing you about.

MyRee,

I have been growing brugs for about 10 yrs +, and have never had any ill affects from the brugs blooming in the house. To me it would be just like having a greenhouse full of brugs in bloom and working several hours in it.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

I don't know David, maybe that is what has happened to a few people, they sniffed brug blooms one too many times. lol lol (For anyone who might thing otherwise, that was just a little joke.)

Ok all, I just had this on my mind, and wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. (Although my heart monitor kept beeping that I had to low of a heart rate).

It does make my living room smell just divine.

Do you think it got to my cat? OH NO!

Allergies aside, it would be quite the stretch for any flower fragrance to be a health threat. The pleasant ones are meant to be enjoyed!

Your cat appears to be very happy and pampered - the way it should be!

I believe it’s a highly addictive substance but, I’m speaking strictly from my own experience!!

LOL Caren, maybe that is the problem we all have....one whiff and we go brug nuts.

Oh Marie, I can't stand to see your cat belly up like that without doing some belly boobas on his tum. I love it when my cat gives hers up to me. LOL And what a great belly your cat has!

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

Oh, that's it, we are all addicted by the scent. Isn't there a name for that? BCF? (Brugmansia Crazy Fools) Don't all manias have to have an acronym? Frankly, I was hooked long before I smelled one. Is there such a thing as...double addicted? Will the questions ever end? (eyes moving side to side, finger to the lips in a thoughtful moment. Shoulders shrug, OK, moments over).

Shasta gets belly boobas, but not from me, I give occasional head scratches. My Scotty gives the belly boobas, Actually he is the one the cat loves and the cat lover of the 2 of us. We both get snuggles from her, but it is Scotty that gets the most attention.
