Are the leaves (?) variegated and do they have spines on the edges?

Thanks! Haven't received it yet (LOL), just won it this morning. Pretty sure the leaves are variegated, can't tell about spines though.
My ageing eyes need more pixels.

Yep, will need to, since this one has lost its ID, which is part of the reason it was only $2.95. I actually was trolling for a guzmania to buy when I found these broms on auction on eBay from Stokes Tropicals, I have another bid on 1 for 99 cents to be shipped with this one. 99 cents, what can you buy for 99 cents? Even with shipping, it'll be about $5 or $6 for each brom. The other has a variegated leaf too.
Stokes Tropical sent me an e-mail about my auctions, and this one is a guzmania. How lucky is that?

Did they say whether you were bidding on a mature plant or a pup?

What you see is what I'll get, pot and all -mature plant. for the 99 cent ones, I'll get 3 shipped bare-root, but one is starting to bloom from what I see one the auction (ends tomorrow).
OMG! I checked out a link on a bromeliad thread the other day and the prices were mostly in the $7-$30 range. This means I will have to acquire most of mine as DG trades!
Do you have several bromeliads already?

2 Aechmea fasciata pups that I got as trades is all. Really wanted a Guzmania Gwendolyn or Cherry but couldn't find one for sale. If they are as pricey as you found, I can't buy them either, will have to trade or luck out on eBay. If I win the 3 variegated pups, I may post to trade for stamps. Right now have no idea what kind that one is.
Hah! I won the 3 variegated brom pups for 99 cents! So for all of $16.89 I get the potted guzmania, the 3 variegated pups as bare-roots, and a manual on broms. When I can post pics, we can play, let's trade broms.
Wow, you scored with a big bargain! I wish I had a manual and probably will search for one at our local bookstore. I would want to scan through it to pick the one that I like the best.

Stokes is auctioning off a lot of broms and more of them with the brom manual, check out their eBay auction, user ID is st0kestr0picals. They have more 99 cent broms, etc.

Stunning plant great price !
I can't wait to post the pictures I've taken, the bare-root mother and pups are Billbergia of some kind, with purply-blue flowers hanging off the pretty pink bracts. it looks like the picture in my brom manual of B. Thelma Hodges, leaves and all, but Thelma seems to have white flowers off the bracts rather than purply-blue. The guzmania is a brilliant orange-red and it's starting 2 pups already. The pictures went for developing (I'm still using film!). I am very happy with my deal.
