Want a heavy cheap, and deep, birdbath.
Birds are using the large dog water dish that is 14" in diameter and 4-5" deep. They really like to dive under and take a full bath, not just splash around.
HD has the right prices, but theirs are WAY to shallow. We have seen some that were $$$$, but would like to stay under $50.
Also - no plastic please -- something heavy. If it dries out (vacation, etc.) I do not want it blowing around the garden, yard, or down the street.
Thanks in advance - I know DG'ers will have the right answer.
Where to get a birdbath in Houston area?
Bubba--
I buy the super large saucers they sell for the super huge plastic pots. Mount on top of a 4' x 4' whatever height you want them. I am going to answer your dmail; have been super busy. Wurstfest is in San Marcus, right? I think I may go Sat night and Sunday. =)
Debbie
Wurstfest is in New Braunfels.
Thanks. Figured you were busy with school starting, etc.
Why not continue using a big dog dish on top of the bottom of a big pot - in other words, turn the pot upside down to use it as the bottom of your dog dish? I can't have a bird bath in my front yard in the subdivision but pots are ok and I want the bb in the front where I can watch the birds while I am on the computer. Go figure ......

Now, where did you find this? It is great! Every Texan should have one! & I want one.
I have hummers that are absolutely thick. I know other birds us birdbaths but I saw some of the hummers getting over in dishes of rain water. They also come right up to us when we are hand watering other plants. If the spray is soft, they just hover like they are taking showers. lol
There is a place on Hempstead Hwy in Houston that has them. It is between Antoine and 34th.
We were prepared to spend most of the day searching, but found it at the first place we stopped.
Spent a few more $$ than I wanted, but that's ok. Was $99 + tax.
Very heavy - top is probably 30-40 #, Base is 50+#.
The owner said there was only one manufacturer of this design. There were two different bases available, but we liked the boots best - the other one is round with horses in relief - too subtle for us.
Thanks for the info. That is really close to the Farm where I work. Did you see a big gorilla in their display? If so, then I know exactly where you got yours. I used to pass a place on Hempstead Hwy going to work that had this life size gorilla out in front. We laughed at it everyday.
Thanks again. :~)
We got ours outside Wichita Falls.. SUper PRICES, but CRAPPY drive 6 hours.
Smockette,
I don't remember a gorilla. They also sell buildings, and canopys, and fountains - any size - custom made to fit a corner or wall, etc. Interesting place. The buildings range from a "garden shed" to a 2-story cabin.
