Finally!!!!! Golden Lady blooms!

Hooks, TX

Seems like I waited forever for these, but here they are at last! I have BLOOMS, and 'Gaylams' to thank for them. And, it's a double, too!! I'm now watching to see if the color deepens any more.

The first picture is not so close and the next picture is closer up.
Hope you like them as much as I do,

All my GL are doubles they start out with a ting of yellow but end up white, I love her she blooms so prefusely

Kareoke,
One might think with the name 'Golden', that the color would be a bit yellow. But, I love her just the same!!!

Simply gorgeous, Louise! Congrats!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I can't find a picture just now, but they can get golden at times. Very gold in color. I do not know why they change color when they do, I have had both, white and gold.

Your picture is great. I LOVE GL!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Mine is blooming now (actually it's been blooming continuously since early June. But this week the color is a medium golden yellow on every flower that opens. I'm guessing it is because the temps have been cooler (70s during the day, low 50s at night)..not positive that is why..but maybe :-)

It's wonderful that DG gives us a way to share the things that we work so very much to grow. DG just multiplies the enjoyment for all of us. These are extra special because they are my first ones.

Thanks for stopping by. If you were here, I would make a cup of coffee or glass of tea for you.

She's beautiful!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Lucky YOU!! Absolutely beautiful.. I hear she has an awesome scent too.. is that right? Oh do tell, especially after looking at the beautiful pics... I am dyin to hear about her fragrance..
Congratulations on your beautiful blooms.

Hooks, TX

I don't know if the fragrance grows stronger as the bloom matures, but for now, it resembles baby powder and is not as pervading, distance-wise, as I had thought it would be.

But, tomorrow is another day - and it may get stronger.

Louise

Well I'll be ! She's a Beauty Louise....
I'm so happy you are experiencing GL in bloom. She has a nice fragrance and it's does get better. I have some blooms that are several days old and they smell wonderful.
I must add you are quite the photographer also. Great shots!!!
NOW you can finally sit back and enjoy some blooms
:)

Kin,
I think GL got in high gear when she saw the big cuttings and plants from you. She wasn't going to let them outgrow her, so she showed what she could do!!!! And, I'm loving it. The blooms are still beautiful and this is the third day for them.

For the picture, I put the pot on an upside down large pot to raise it up enough for me to get the shot from underneath. I need to remember to hold my breath when snapping the picture to prevent blurring. Life is a learning process!!!! Enjoyable, most of the time!

Thanks for your gracious comments,
Louise

I absolutely love this brug. A couple years ago , when it had it's first flush in the Spring, it was white with the yellow center, but the last two years it has just bloomed white. Even so , it is one of my favorites.

Louise,

That is one beautiful brug!! Congratulations :-)

Thanks to all for your nice comments - I'm glad you liked my first brug efforts. I'm definitely a committed brug grower now. Ask me again in the spring after I've contended with them virtually under foot all winter and see if I'm as dedicated as I feel now!!!!

I'll see if I can keep them alive and not growing too much from mid-Nov. to mid-April. Then, outside again ! Wheeeeee !
I may need advice about New Year's Eve.

Just a little piece of heaven here on earth. Just beautiful. Mine got about a foot tall and quit this year, didn't die just didn't grow. I guess all the heat we had. She bloomed last year and I know the feeling you are having.

Hooks, TX

Georgia,
I also have a few seedlings that have reached a foot tall and are taking a lonnnnnng rest. I'm not real sure just how to motiate them!
Maybe, someone who's been there can give some much needed advice. Are they going dormant this early? They are getting plenty of water with MG. Maybe I need to bump up to a larger pot. That's all I can think of now. No bug or disease problems - just seems lazy!

I am so glad that you now have blooms on GL. It has been such a hot summer in TX for us and mine had dropped buds all summer long. It now has buds again and soon I hope I see blooms like yours.

My My..what a lovely flower.. and great green leaves..I love it when a plan..and lots of attention ..comes together.. Gordon

Thanks for the well wishes. They encourage me while I wait on the other two dozen to live up to their potential! Your pictures spurred me on to this spot with my brugs.

Louise

LOL Louise.
She got jealous when she saw some Northerner Cuttings!!! LOL
I have done the same things propping up pots on other pots to get a better shot. With my new camera I have a view screen that does a 180 degree angle so I can just flip it and view it while the camera is facing up towards the sky. Now if I only had Orangutan arms!!! LOL

Hooks, TX

Kin,
Congratulations on the camera upgrade. You know we are expecting fabulous, fascinating snapshots from you now to
surpass your previous beautiful posts.

BTW, my camera doesn't flip :( , but, because of a recent post
on some forum, I now know how to zoom in and zoom out !!! It
eliminates the flash glare in the middle of the object of the photo.

At what height does a cutting, like the large ones you sent, form
a 'Y' ? Can you tell I'm anxious to have more blooms????

Louise
