four o clock Broken Colors

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I love the four o clock "Broken Colors". You never know what you will get. One flower may be yellow and the one beside it on the same branch may be pink. It may have stripes or spots or smudges. Each flower is so unique. Here is one that is half and half

And this one is heavy on the pink.

And this one is mixed so that it almost looks orange. All these pics are on the same plant. Cool, huh.

I agree. You never know what you will have day by day.

Wow, that is amazing! I have never seen of heard of that one before; thanks for sharing those photos.
Four O'Clocks are pretty invasive here but I wouldn't mind if they looked like that.

Are these fragrant like the solid yellow ones? They smell like jasmine!

Yours are beautiful!! I love the 2 colors on one branch.

So tempting but I have been trying to get rid of my 4 O'Clocks for years now. They just take over and you cannot pull them or dig them out. The tuber goes so far down you always leave a tip and up it comes again. The tubers get to be huge too, like the size of a cat. Mine grow to be 6 feet by 6 ft easily. I cut them back a few times a season and back up they come.

If I had a big field I would love them though. Lots of color and no trouble at all. They multiply like crazy and make so much seed that germinates all over on its own.

Yes, these are also fragrant. They dont seem to be invasive here. Maybe we have a long enoough winter to keep them in check. They die back and come to life in the spring. They do get tall. I have some that get over six feet tall.

You are so lucky. I would love them if they didn't take over. I have even doused them in Round Up and they got a bit of leaf burn but kept on growing! LOL.
