Propagation of spider lilies (Lycoris)

Has anyone ever tried to propagate these by cutting the bulbs in half or quarters? I sliced one up pretty badly this spring and thought it would not make it. I did not replant it just left it out of the ground in a plastic flat. It has healed and is sprouting. I wonder how these would respond to bulb chipping?

Hi Turtle....there is currently a thread (about 4-5 down) in the Propagation forum addressing bulb chipping,scaling,etc. that has some interesting discussion as well as some links to other info. Lycoris is discussed. I think you'll like it! Lee
