I went back to see if I could catch this double white from Hawaii in full bloom. The owner told me I am about 3 weeks too late. Shucks.
As big as a house.
That is incredible! .. it's amazing what a no freeze zone can grow!
X
(dropped jaw) wow.... that's amazing. Ya'll don't need trees in CA, just brugs that could pass as trees. That's stunning.
Is that an Azalea in the foreground?
Hmmm... if I could move my house and my land to California in zone 9b ...
Kell, I have always believed you before but this one I not know. Is this unusual or common? Joan
Oh, to live in California!! I hope he realizes what a generous offer you gave him! It sure would be something to see a double of yours grow like this!!
Bonnie
Oh, Kell, that is just unbelievable!
Thank you so much!
I hear the Poinsettias out there get as high as a house too....hint-hint............
Robert.
Felicia, it is a bougainvillea, another favorite of mine. PLEASE move some land for me too when you come. That is the only flaw in living here, no land!!
LOL Joan! You do not believe moi? LOL. Most people do not let them grow so big. I see huge yellows a lot, I used to have one too. LOL. Too bad I missed the huge flush. I have seen this one with just sheets of flowers coming off all the branches. There is a big one I pass everyday when I used to work. I should get a picture of that one too. They trim it a lot but still huge.
Actually Kin, this owner is so proud of his tree. He runs out everytime I come and offers me cuttings. He then tells me how his neighbor was moving and gave him a small plant of it a few years ago and how it just took off. He also prunes it a lot. And he never fertilizes it at all. LOL
In the past I have seen huge Poinsettias, Raydio. But now that you mention it, not so much anymore. I think that was popular with a lot of older gardeners. If I see one I will be sure to take a photo for you.
I also saw this on my travels today. I need to show my DH to see if he knows the year. It had Ultramatic Drive on the back of it which I got such a kick out of. LOL
The paint just glistened on this pristine Packard.
When I first moved to California I still remember writing to my Mom telling her of the just huge bush geraniums that stood 6 feet for she used to have these pathetic small things she would baby along every summer and then try to winter them over. LOL.
Also I would tell her about the huge hedges around houses made of jade plants here. I was just a ga ga at them. My Mom had a small Jade plant for years in her dining room in a Chinese pot. I can still see it now. I used to run by and snap the little fleshy leaves off and she would get so mad at me for it was such a slow grower.
Here is a Frosty type down the street from the double white. I missed its big flush too it looked like. Shucks.
Alright, bougainvillea in that color has become my new "must have plant!" I have several huge azaleas about that color and I absolutely love them!!
I'll definitely move some land for you too, Kell. I have 2/10ths of an acre, which is not much here, but is the average. It's big enough to have some fun with. :)
This guy doesn't fertilize that tree at all? That's amazing. Wonder what would happen here if things were not fed once or twice a week.
Be sure to tell him that he has a fan in Indiana. :)
WOW and double WOW what a gorgeous brug. I would love to have that one on the east side my house. Right in front of my bedroom windows. Kell did it have any smell to it? If it does smell nice can you image going to bed at night with the windows open and having a nice cool breeze. Wow I think I am day dreaming.
Wow Kell that is an awesome tree, did you get any cuttings, I would love to grow that here in south Texas
Elva
Kell, my first car was a 1953 Packard 4-door. I drove it to the DMV in New Jersey to get my drivers license at at the age of 16 or 17. Fearing that the driving inspector would think I had a heavy foot, I drove very slowly.......he asked me if my parking brake was on......and I showed him that it wasn't on by pulling the parking brake handle.......I laugh so hard thinking about the look on his face that I cry every time I think about it.
Holy Moly!! How in the world?? I can't even start with all the questions.. LOL Like how do you control bugs with that huge monster!! Crop Dusting? Sheesh! That is amazing.. I love it. Thank you Kell.. That was a real treat!
It sure is a cool car, Patp. And you got your license too! LOL. When I got mine the guy was not going to give it to me because he said I didn't look behind me as I backed up but my Mother actually cried and told him she couldn't take me anymore driving her around all the while sobbing So he passed me. LOL
Gee Linda I was there in the day and it didn't and I didn't ask about the smell.
Elva, you are so funny. No, I didn't ask but he offered and I declined. Why grow it when I can visit his incredible one. Though 2 or 3 years ago I did take cuttings from him and sent them out, I can't remember who got them and I never heard how they did.
Joyce, `I do not think he sprays for bugs. I bet he doesn't get them. I never did when I only had a couple brugs. It was when I got too many that nature intervened.
