I usually dont root anything this time of year as I find the later in the season it gets the harder time I have trying to get things rooted. This includes all types of plants not just hoyas.
This past week I purchased a cloning machine. It wasnt my intention to begin using it until spring of 07" but a friend suggested why didnt I go ahead and give it a shot now to work out any kinks, thus having a better knowledge of how and what to do when I did decide to use it full time.
I decided to get one of these machies to help rooting those thin leaved and wiry stemmed types of hoyas. Those seem to be the ones I have the most trouble getting to root when I get hoyas from David Liddle.
This past tuesday I took cuttings of the following hoyas and currently have them in the machine trying to root. H. golomcoiana,H.subcalva,H.chlorantha,H.chlorantha V tuituilensis and H. aldrichii.
I checked them friday, just 3 days after first putting them into the unit and already at least 3 of those 5 varieties have white nubs showing on them and this is all without any nutrients yet. My chemicals should be here monday.

Open the above link and click on aquastorm. This is the unit that I bought.
It's a lot of reading but you'll have a better understanding of how it all works by reading it than if I tried to explain it. It's all still a bit of rocket science to me as well!!!
I'm gonna call and order 1 tomorrow. There was a problem with the web site but thanks for the info. My MGs are starting our plant sale production line 10/3/06 and I think this will be really helpful.

Jeri, let me see if can find you this guys link on ebay. If you order through the website the unit costs $150 but that price includes a submersable heater as well.
Buying through ebay I got the unit for $120 but mine didnt come with a heater and he advertised it that way.
Tell the guy you saw his ebay auctions and ask if he'll let you have one for $120 it wont have a heater with it but you can by those from any pet store or even wal-mart.
It's just a 25 watt aquarium heater but if you insist on having one go ahead and have him include one with your unit. It'll be an extra $30 but they cost that much or more to just go out and buy one if you get a good one.
I use my aquarium heater in the gh's during the winter. I dont like to water my plants with cold water so I keep a 40gallon tub full of water and set the temp on the heater at around between 70-75F and I always have plenty of warm water to water with during the winter months.
My unit will be operating in the gh's as well and it stays hot in there all summer and very warm in the winter so keeping my machine heated shouldnt be a problem.
