Green Lacewing (Chrysopa perla)
kniphofia
thank you for adding your image of a green lacewing to BugFiles. You added it as Chrysoperla carnea but it has been pointed out to me that that species does not have the black marks on the head and ob the veins of the wings. Your image is almost certainly of the Chrysopa perla and I have transferred your image to our page for that species here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4822/

Great, thanks for letting me know.
Sue
Sue,
I jumped in too soon with making this change. wallaby1 has indicated that this lacewing is also not Chrysopa perla.
I have become confused through not knowing where you took this image. Because your current location is Ashington (United Kingdom), I assumed that the image was taken in England and looked for a matching species from that area.
I am told that you lived in the USA until recently and an American species: Chrysopa oculata is a much better match to your picture: http://bugguide.net/node/view/180505/bgimage
Could you let me know where you took this picture so that it can help me decide where it really belongs.
It would be helpful if you were to change the caption to include the location for the bug. It is valuable information with every photo to have an exact location stated,
Kennedy
Yes Kennedy I lived in Maine for 10 years and this photo was taken in my garden there.
Sorry for the confusion, I have captioned the photo as you suggested.
Sue
Thanks Sue, I have now moved your image to Chrysops oculata here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/1094/
and hopefully I have now got it in the right place,
