I just purchased a seedling labelled as Cassia nodosa. At the same nursery on the table next to it were other seedlings labelled Cassia javanica. I went to PF to import C. nodosa into my journal, and there it's listed that nodosa is a synonym for javanica and not a separate species. Anyone know if that's actually the case?
Question for Cassia experts
I grow some Cassias and I do not intend to be an expert by any mean. As I understand, C. nodosa is now a separate specie. In the past, C. nodosa, C. agnes, C. renigera and C. javanica used to be under C. javanica. They look quite different.
Thanks! Glad to hear they look different, would have hated to buy two of the same plant! I think I'll do a little more research on this and see if I can come up with enough evidence that they're different to report the error in Plant Files and then add C. nodosa as a separate entry.
