CLOSED: They Gotta Go!
Julie,
Isn't Asclepsias supposed to be hardy up here? Or is it one of those self-seeding half-hardy types?
Blue balloon flower - tall or short?

I have enough moonbeam coreopsis for everyone on DG to have some!
Also a blanket flower, other miscelaneous growing things... ask! I keep forgetting.

Hi Carrie - The Asclepias is not hardy here, but it over Winters easily indoors. It doesn't thrive, but it survives - that way you get flowers much earlier. I try to do both - over WInter a few plants, plus grow some by seed.
The Balloons are regualr - not dwarf.
I don't have any information on the Bee Balm - I think it was one of those Proven Winners... It grows to about 3-5 feet tall, & the hummingbirds love it.
I can't use the Moonbeam, but the blanket flower sounds nice. Dmail me if this works for you!
Michelle - Sounds great! Dmail me details - how many plants, address etc.

Anaid - I don't think any of those are hardy here - Although I do like some of them, I just can't find the room for them inside. A few of the plants that you want are already spoken for, but I can send what I can for postage - dmail me & let me know if that works for you!
Mamajack - The Four O'Clocks look like "Broken Colors"
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/53054/index.html
And the Chirita is my mistake - I think it is actually "Moonwalker" - the tag is scraped off!
Here it is:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/123951/index.html
I can only offer a fresh cutting of the Chirita - the rooted ones are already spoken for. But they root so easy - just stick them in soil & wait! I like this plant because it flowers in the dead of Winter. :)

Echinacea White Swan
Echinacea Purpurea Magnus

Interested in your Bee Balm & Hypoestes.
Have LOTS of cannas (firecracker, we think).
Not sure what else we have here in the Houston area that would be perennials for you. We mostly grow tropicals, roses, old standbys. We do have some beauty berry, and other small trees.
I took a look at your trade list, and all I found that we have is Ginger. However, these are tropicals??
JRush, I may be interested in your Hens & Chicks. How large and of what varietty of Sempervivim it is?
http://www.nothyme.com/hensandchicks.cfm
Thanks!
Julie-
Sorry, I lost this thread. Looks like you found takers for the hardy stuff - I don't need anymore stuff that I need to bring inside!
But from now on I'm watching this thread....
xxx, Carrie
Hi Carrie - I still have some Bee Balm, Balloon Flower, Artemesia & Hens & Chicks available. These are all hardy. If you don't have any Balloons for your garden yet, I would highly recommend them - they are so pretty!
Julie,
On your post just above this, is that what you currently have left?
I could/would love to take them off your hands amd I actually do have a few/couple things that would do well outside at your house. Maybe some daylilies or heucheras?
Just in case you didn't know, I moved AGAIN. I moved to North Central Florida last December. I'm now in zone 8b. I have my own 5 acres now, and no one else owns it with me. It's all mine and I hope to be here til I am really old.
I'll get you the correct address this time, I promise!!!!!
Molly
:^))))
You are to ofunny Molly - Dmailing you now...
Hi Julie,
Got mine yesterday and have most of them potted up. They're looking good.
Some of these are classic sulkers though - but they will perk up soon!
Julie,
How do you grow your hens & chicks?
Hens & Chicks love the hot, dry sun. They are great for rock gardens. I mix sand with the soil to keep it well draining. If they are happy, they will spread - quickly. My sister has hers planted in cement blocks - the kind for building. It keeps them extra hot, with the sun warming the cement, & contains their travelin' ways. After flowering, the stalk will die back. I just cut them off when they begin to look nasty, but not until the flowers are totally gone - the bees just love them!
Thanks. I have a bed that has the narrow concrete blocks around that I can put them in.
Julie,
I certainly do have balloon flowers! But I would love some of your Red bee balm. I don't think I have anything new to you to trade... Can you take postage?
xxxx, Carrie
ACK! Forgot the picture! Here it is!

JRush:
Do you have anything left that you 'need' to get rid of for the cost of postage? You don't even have to send rooting cuttings as I have a system that works pretty well for myself and I have a plant room to hold anything over until spring 2007. IF you have any of the following I would be forever thankful (and will send postage reimbursement asap!):
Hens and Chicks
Butterfly Weed
4:00 Broken Colors (cutting/seeds)
"My Special Angel" begonia cutting
Polka Dot Plants
New Guinea Purple Impatiens
Pregnant Onion
any Brug cuttings left???
Thank you in advance for your consideration!!!
carrielamont:
Are you still willing to send out any of your Moonbeam Coreopsis? Our weather has gotten quite chilly so my plants are going into dormancy so unable to send a trade at this time...but, I would gladly send/reimburse you for postage...LMK!!!
Later, Jan
The Balloons always look so perfect! A real star performer in the garden. I am still waiting to see if my white Balloon seed survived - hwo nice to see them planted next to one another :)
I do have Bee Balm left - probably the last of it though. Will dmail you-
JanLynn - I can offer everything but the Pregnant Onion. I have cuttings of Brugmansia Peaches & Cream, Isabella, Pink Beauty & Species. The Brugs are harder to root this time of year for us colder climates, but a lmap seems to help them along. Dmailing you too-
