Anybody use this?..Im trying to think ahead about taking the brugs in and want to give them a dose before I drag them inside...I also have the bayer 3 in 1 in liquid and granules.....do the granules burn the roots?...I heard some people say they do...any thoughts..Judy
Bayer Tree and Shrud
I have used the Bayer Tree and Shrub, Judy. It doesn't touch mites though! But I do believe it lists white flies. I have used it with incredible success on scale that was impossible to get rid of and I think it works on mealy bug too.
I just looked it up, it kills Aphids, Birch Leafminers, Elm Leaf Beetles, Holly Leafminers, Leafhoppers, Leafminers, Mealybugs, Pine Bark Adelgids, Sawfly Larvae, Scales, Spruce Gall Adelgids, Whiteflies, Wooly Balsam Adelgids.
Anyway the fact it lasts for up to 1 year after just 1 application and that it is a soil drench makes it so easy.
I do not know about the 3 in 1 granules but the 2 in 1 systemic granules has fertilizer in it and I have found it can really burn your roots. So I learned to water the day before and to not use too much. Recently I looked into what Disulfoton is and found it is a very dangerous insecticide so I would never apply it inside and would be so careful about using it outside too and where the run off goes.
I just looked them up and the 2 in 1 is the only one that kills mites.

So each kind goes after some different bugs but unless you are worried about fungus, the Tree and Shrub with the 2 in 1 seems to cover most of them.
Disulfoton sounds bad and I sure dont need that around me or the garden....Im more concerned about aphids which plague me around the end of Jan and the beginning of Feb until I drag them all outside....maybe if I give them a dose of bayer tree and shrub right now I can feel alright about bringing them in in about 3 week weather permitting..Im hoping we can get 3 or more weeks ..Im pretty close to the big lake so we are sheltered abit more then the rest of town...Judy
Another note ---
Veronica, have you tried to use the Bayer rose systemic and fertilizer combo? If I have spider mites all over, I do Neem and use that also. The 1 - 2 punch. The trouble with that mix is the fertilizer will burn if you are heavy handed or use it on a dry plant.
I now [ not me ] buy the systemic straight so I do not have to worry about it burning. But it is poison though not that strong a dilution from what I gather when I researched it. It is 2% where if you are a nurseryman, you can use up to 15% disulfoton. It is called Hi-Yield DiSyston Systemic Insecticide Granules, a soil drench which I prefer to a spray. But it is poison so be careful if you use it. The reason I use Neem all the time is it is not poison and you can use it forever and the bugs do not build up a resistance like in other insecticides. But if I really have mites which are unrelenting, I do resort to the big guns.
