Kellyville, OK(Zone 7a)

I was just snooping around and I found that my buds are doing weird things. Please tell me that I am going to have a flower. John

LOL John, you had me looking so closely at your bud emerging from the calyx to find a problem. I find in the cooler weather it takes longer to push out but you can definitely go on bloom patrol now. LOL

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Looks ok to me. I am getting buds/blooms like you wouldn't believe, "stay far away frost"! Hope you have a few more weeks until frost, you should see blooms. Good luck!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

You'll worry yourself silly looking for them to fully open. I still get a thrill!!

John, they do look odd, you better send them to me so I can check them out for you LOL

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

are ya smiling? if not, you most definitely should be!!

Lizella, GA(Zone 8a)

John,, bet it will open in 2 days,, My blooms are strange this year. We had a drought most of the summer, and now it has cooled down quickly. The "joy" of gardening. Elaine

Don't you gals make fun of him, I think he means that long thing sticking out of it. Not the bud with the tendrils. Is it growing as part of the plant John?

Looks good John. Just don't get worried about the tendrils getting tangled up. Ahhh.. the thrill of first blooms. Excited for you!!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Jnette,
I was looking at that long thing too, but it almost looks like grass to me.
John is a very sweet guy, and I can't wait to plant the incarnata seeds he sent me next Spring! :)

Kellyville, OK(Zone 7a)

Felicia, you make me blush, and I am way too old for that. Is every 15 minutes too often to check on the blooms?

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

John,
For your very first bloom, I'd say checking it every 15 minutes is perfect. Of course, when it starts to open up, you'll probably be checking on it more often than that.
So, is that a long piece of grass in the picture?
Oh, blushing is good at any age!!

Kellyville, OK(Zone 7a)

That peice of grass even has seeds on it. I have been neglecting my weeding skills. John

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I thought for someone checking on the bloom every 15 minutes that he wouldn't stand for a piece of grass to be that close. LOL

Jeanette, I was looking so hard at the bud, that I didn't even see the grass. John

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

well they look mighty good to me. if it wasn't raining so hard I would go out and take a picture of a brug loaded with buds but I bet there isn't one of them over an inch long, and curled at the tip. no there could be a problem, this one has never bloomed befor.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Those wierd buds are going to be a beautiful flower in a couple of days, good for you! Remember to show us her picture!!
After it blooms you'll be smelling it every time you get near it too!Enjoy!!

What a pretty picture. Is that versi orange? I was just looking at that one in my yard, in total shade and in need of much care. I was debating tossing it, but yours is so pretty.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Yes, Kell it is V. Peach. Great smell too!
I wanted to show you one of your Kell's Pink seeds from last year. This is it's first bloom. The blooms are smaller that usual and it is a real soft pink!Sorry, wrong picture. I'll get it to you as soon as I find it! Sorry

You have such pretty brugs! I really like the versi peach best. LOL. That one of mine looks like a EP cross, do you know what it is?

The saying is, a watch pot never boils, but these things are a lot slower than boiling water. This first pic is of the fat buds. The buds are about 6in long. over all about 10 to 11inches long. Looks like it maybe yellow. John
