Does anyone know where I might find photos of Japanese stlye gardens and a plant list that would be suitable for Houston? I'm trying to help friends who are novice gardners plan a garden for their new home, around a newly installed swimming pool. They like the structural looking plants like yuccas, ornamental grasses, etc. I'm trying to think of something that would work as a large shrub, small tree, in place of a Japanese maple that would give texture and color. The entire planting area is full sun, so I think the Japanese maples are out. Also, if anyone knows of a bamboo that isn't invasive, and would do well here, please let me know. Thanks.
