Hello all!! I know I've read these guys like to be root bound....however "it's time"...I think. Any helpful hints as to what time of year is best and/or how to check if they need to be moved up a size or just have their soil changed out a bit. Thanks much!!
Potting up
I wait until the roots are so thick in the pot that I cannot squeeze the plastic pot AND the water doesn't seem to run thru it quickly. Also, if I see alot of roots on the surfact. Sometimes I just refresh the soil on the top of the pot. Sometimes when I tip the plant out...just the top 2/3 comes out of the pot...at which point I put new soil in the bottom, mush the roots around a bit and put the plant back in the pot.... Edited to say that sometimes when the pot looks tight, sqeeze opposing corners together to breakup the stuff in the pot...I find it works well.

Patti
Thank you, Carol...Hello to you Patti!! My four hoyas were purchased and received as 2 leaves to a solo cup 4 years ago. Eventually I moved them into big girl 4" pots and there they've been. 2 of the 4 bloom for me, so I guess they're happy enough... :)
I believe I'll just add some fresh soil for now - thanks again!!
