One is mine that I got from Wal-Mart and is marked as Diffenbachia, the other is my step-Mom's that she got in a dish garden. I'm not familiar with Dumb Cane at all so I'm not sure if this is what they look like as babies or not. Most of the pics I find, even of the babies, seem to have longer stems that ours do.
Thanks for any help,
Heather
Are These Diffenbachia - Dumb Cane?
You betcha they are Dumb Canes! Your first pic looks like 'Compacta' and the 2nd pic is surely 'Camille'. I too grow Dieffenbachias and absolutely love the big dramatic foliage!
Thanks so much for the confirmation! I'm looking forward to growing this plant, I had no idea it would become so large or lovely.
I told my DH the reason behind the name Dumb Cane and he immediately came up with a plan to take some to work, telling all his co-workers what a delicious plant it was! If I didn't know he was kidding I'd be worried.
