I have lots of blooms on this one and everyone is well formed.

But I am not celebrating yet. I had a similar one 2 years ago which was much fatter but still a yellow double mini that looked good at first. But this year I got deformed blooms on it up until right now when the weather is cooler. So forget that one.

I sure hope this one holds.

Speaking of deformed doubles. I have another double pink but I think it may be deformed. Or at least not pretty, LOL

Ohh, yellow!!! I hope it stays that cute.

Hagerstown, MD(Zone 6b)

Way to go. A pretty sight for hungry eyes. I keep looking to see if anyone has come up with a dbl yellow. I really really hope it stay yellow with no deformation.

Can you tell I prefer the yellow over pinks!

All of my brugs are in bud and I have been racking my brain on what to do for my first cross. I tried a couple earlier on in the season with no results. Of course yellow is on the top of my brain.

Just curious, .............. ya gotta ballpark figure of the # seedlings you are growing/watching to see how they turn out?

Love that adorable double mini-yellow!

If I had one, I root it about 12-18 inches tall below a 'Y' and have a sort of bonsai brug.

I would be thrilled if I had a pink like that too!

I had hoped to go and get another picture of this one with a ruler in hand. And to check for fragrance but I got sidetracked, the story of my life. And tomorrow I go to a huge plant sale and am doing some nurseries around Berkeley after. I am on the hunt for a newly hybridized lapageria.

Aunt B, I have never heard of Alex but she sure sounds cute.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Alex is a new small flowered pink single. I think it was just released a few months ago.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's beautiful Kell! Yellow is my favorite color and I recently painted my bedroom a similar color as your new baby. So I think you should name it Brugmansia 'Kristi's bedroom' :) LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Kristi. I have been talking about you lately to Kay and also on here! All good of course, you nice lady! I saw another of your brugs! How are you doing?? I was going to take a picture of Begonia Freddie yesterday and I thought of you. It has huge leaves like you like.

I love your name but I am calling it Lemon Drops. LOL. After my newly found summer drink. I can sure see you in a sunny, cheerful room!

Carter, I will have to be on the look out for it. Sounds so cute.

LOL Kristi!!!
I love that name Kell.
I hope you don't mind me posting this picture of Lemon Drops as a Water Color. Playing around with a new program and had to share it with you.

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

Marie

Hagerstown, MD(Zone 6b)

I really think the name fits this one. Great going Kell. Does this mean it will be registered?

Dott

Premont, TX(Zone 9b)

Oh My Kell The double yellow is stunning - looks like a winner to me and the name you picked is beautiful

Elva

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Dott, I have never felt the need to register any of my brugs or Susie's that I have grown. Sounds like work to me. And I am retired. LOL. I may register a few at some point in time. I do this purely for fun.

This one may get weird next year. I had a beautiful dark yellow one last year that I just loved. It was really special. And all summer its flowers were off until it got cool weather. I was so disappointed. So who knows what this one will be like next year. Lets hope she is good.

THANKS Elva and Marie!

My one from last year.

Kell

I just saw this post. Did you go to the sale and did you find Aunt B??? What color is she? They are gorgeous plants. You don't suppose they know that I am heading there some day just to ask which Aunt B. they were referring to:)) Did they have a bunch of Lapageria's for sale? You must tell us about the sale.

Bea

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I just got your dmail Mommum. You have lapageria lust bad. LOL

AuntB is not a hybird but a member here. LOL. Carlos of UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens (usually called Berkeley Bot) did have many kinds at the sale. And he had new hybrids too. He is their master grower and hybridizer of vines there. Tons of rare passifloras too.

Anyway, to answer your questions, if you do make it to one of their sales make sure you are a member because by the time the general public is let in, things are so picked over. I was only maybe 20 minutes gawking around before I walked into the vine room and the best lapargias were about gone. I got the ones I wanted but not the bigger or the flowering specimens. So the lesson is as the gate opens run for them and do not look left or right.

Second thing is bring lots of money. Sadly, the prices have gone way up. I think I paid $40 last year for a gallon can and this year I paid $60. It maybe that I grabbed the best cultivars and they were marked more, I did not look at the prices of the others. I got the darkest red, a double red, and a picotee. Because I got to the lapergias 20 minutes into the sale, I didn't get any already in flower but others did and they were gorgeous. I got a bit carried away because of all the excitement in the room.

Carlos has tons of plants out for sale, some he keeps replenishing. So if you get there early, you will have lots to pick from. I think but am not positive the lapagerias were all the gallon size but he had passifloras in the 4 inch size also and they were big ones fo rthat size pot.

The nursery elite show up at these sales and they all know what to grab. Because there are real rare gems in small amounts among the common plants nurseries donate for the sale, you really need to know what you are looking at. The competition is stiff. And a few buy the plants at the sale and put them right out on ebay and get so much more for them. I have been watching 2 ebay sellers clean up on what they got so much cheaper at the sales.

Here is pic of some that were already sold. This has 2 plants in the pic.

Kell Yes I do it is really bad!!! isn't it pathetic:) Posting that gorgeous picture isn't helping me much either hehe
I have looked for these a long time now. You have no idea the hoops us Canadians have to jump through to get our hands on some of the pretties we want. I swear the rest of the world thinks we live in igloo's. I don't ...and really want to grow so many of the more tropical plants but they simply are not available here. One day I am going to drag hubby and the kids to SF. They can go to the park and I am going to the sale.
Thanks for all the great tips. I will bring HIS wallet and wear my best running shoes:) I will definately join the membership and race to the lapagerias and passiflorias.
I see that the spring sale will have an advanced members sale on Friday the night before. Well here's crossing my fingers we get to that one.
When your double red puts out some blooms please post a picture!! I bet it will be awesome.
Thanks again

Bea
