In our subdivision there is a tall - 6' + - bush/shrub with clusters of bright yellow flowers blooming now. The individual flowers resemble the Allemanda. The name of this bush is haunting me since I can't place it. Don't have pictures - can't take any - but if you have an idea what it could be along w/a picture of it I would really appreciate your input. It is truly beautiful. We are in W part of Houston and the bush is up against a house in morning sun, at least, in the ground. Have your seen one?
Thanks, Ann
yellow flowers
Could it be an esparanza?
Louanne
hummerlou, it could well be that. The name just escaped me. I will check with nursery to see if they can ID it. I have gone thru DG and my description evidently wasn't good enough because I was getting all kinds of answers w/ flowers the wrong color or the plants were iris or morning glory which of course didn't fit my ID. Thanks for putting me on the right track. :>))

There is a yellow allamanda... ?
Hi - Is this the one you're wondering about?

Thanks Mahnot for the link. I have an alamanda here in my back yard so I know it is not that. This bush has CLUSTERS of bright yellow flwrs. while my alamanda has the same flowers (it appears) but they are single flowers. My daughter is going to call Cornelius nursery and ask them.
Thanks for all the help.

Could it be Cassia....or Senna?
You are all so helpful. I'll let you know what the daughter finds out. Thanks heaps!!
Ann
Yes, it looks like your pic fly girl but the clusters are BIG - about the size of good sized mixing bowl. Should we find out for sure we will let you know. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

If its bloomin' its had of now, its probably tecoma...
Thanks so much all of you! Yes, dmj, it's blooming it blooming head off right now. Very showy! I looked up tecoma and that appears to be the one.
I know lots of plants by their common (for us) names and never got into the latin, etc stuff. For instance I've been growing and my Momma did before me, what we called "coral vine". Know that's not the real name and am not interested in learning more about it, really. Have found that others referred to it as "queen's tears" , etc. To me, it will always be coral vine and it's so easy to grow from seed, etc.
