I can't believe it!

All my squash is DEAD!

Gone, gone, gone...

Sorry to hear about your loss. It can happen quickly at altitude and high desert. Get some frost blankets for next year. When we lived in the Sierras, we watched the weather reports religiously. Frost can come unexpectedly, so you need to have a plan to protect you plants to extend the season.

The forecast was for 34. I have 90+ squash plants, i could have covered a few but i just didn't think it would get that low...

The tomatoes and melons did fine though!

I used some 80% sunshade material from HD to protect my garden the last 2 years. If the freeze is light and the following day is clear, the plants will survive. Made it here until over 4 hours below 28 F.

Hey Bubba in Mo City!

I'm in Houston, and will start my first veggie garden in March! I want to grow some squash, too, so I'll be chatting with you. My DH is going to build the DIY EBs from the Rubbermaid containers. Glad to make your acquaintance AND have a friend in the same climate as I am!

Oh my goodness! How awful....I can't even imagine a frost yet, we're still so hot yet!

Gymgirl,
There are a bunch of DG'ers here.

DIY Earthboxes from Rubbermaid containers? Where do you find plans for those. I'd like to try some!

My squash miraculously made it, even with temps down to 32. But a couple of them look rather sad. I don't know if I'll get squash this year or not.
