ID Please

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

A fairly small one that I initially thought was a Painted Lady. I don't think so now.
Rather shy, not easy to get close to. This was the third try.

I think it's an American Painted Lady, because of the two haloed spots on the underside of the wings, V. virginiensis. Very nice pics of her!

Thanks Fly girl. I take it that there is a distinction between the 'regular' Painted Lady and the American Painted Lady. That halo on the wing? Cool.

Andy, the Painted Lady has 4 smaller eyespots and the West coast Painted Lady has 3 medium blue eyespots. And the American P. Lady is usually found in cooler climates.
