I wish I could have one but it won't live in my zone. They are pretty and I know the hummers would love them.

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

What kind of perenials would you like?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

if you don't know what this plant is then google it. it is a gorgeous plant. plant files on daves has a comment from a lady in 7b that is growing it. also, plant files state hardiness as 7-11, although other sources state less cold hardiness. it is a subshrub, reaching 24 inches in height. blooms late summer. magnolia gardens says it is a good potted plant.

these plants were at a local nursery in july, aug. when it was so hot and dry the nursery cut these plants back to about 4-5 inches. the bigger plants were root bound in their pots as well but are putting on new leaves now that i have repotted them. they appear to be none the worse for wear although they aren't so pretty with their haircut.

I've got fresh seeds from salvia Black & Blue , s. Hot Lips, and a very vigorous red Salvia if you are interested, it looks like you already have Firespike. My hummers are all over the salvia, especially Black & Blue.

If those aren't of interest I can look around for something to take cuttings of...

plantnutga, i have the black and blue and hot lips. what is the other red salvia? is it an annual?

Thomasville, GA(Zone 8b)

The red was in the side of a one gallon pot with the hot lips, just one little teeny stem this spring that I couldn't bear to let die, it is now 3 foot by 3 foot. I have not ID'ed it.

But boy, is it happy!

is it coccinea?

Thomasville, GA(Zone 8b)

I need to double check the leaves against some photos I pulled up.

I believe it is coccina although the descriptions I read said that it stays smaller than mine has. I guess I neglected it just enough...

Mama, where is Fate? And did I understand you are looking for Madrensis?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

is it possible that you have this plant? and you are even in texas. i had given up on getting this salvia. you do have it? you aren't just teasing me, are you? lol.

fate is about 25 miles east of dallas on I-30, near rockwall.

did you want a dicliptera?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I have dicliptera. Won it when I went to one of my local hort talks.
Yes, I have it but I also work @ a whsl nursery that grows. I'm also fr FtW!
Now, how is that for it being a small world or should I say a big Texas? lol

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I could talk to you for an hr about this plant. It is awesome!!! The stem is the strangest I have ever seen. It is a salvia but only blooms in the fall! Size is not normal for salvias. Only yellow salvia that I know of! Etc, etc, etc.!!!!!!
