Well, I reckon that this issue is a bit of a trivial one, but the more cuttings that I'm planting, the more cups and pots I seem to be creating, lol. My question is, how do you guys transport your plants to and from a RU? Josephine gave me a great idea of cutting milk or water jugs to make small trays....which sort of works in my case, but only 3 cups fit...and they sort of lay at an angle. I have nursery trays from some of my trips out there, but they're flimsy. Any ideas? :):) I figured that some of you RU veterans may have some interesting contraptions, lol.. :) Thanks...

How do YOU transport your plants to Swaps and RU's?
Melanie I usualy get low boxes from the grocery store and put my trays or pots in there.
The heavier plastic nursery trays work for the small pots.
Hmm....interesting idea, Josephine...I wonder if lining a box bottom with a trash bag would deter a little dampness in the cardboard?
I was thinking along the same lines as Josephine....everytime I go to Sam's they give me a shallow cardboard box. Great idea about lining it with a trashbag or something.
Over some time I have accumulated a good supply of "trays" the nursery's normally have their plants in. I've just asked for them and have been very generously obliged. I use them in my green houses to carry or keep pots in groups. I have found that asking works well for me. I recently approached some workers at a new apartment complex I noticed had just been landscaped and asked for a good number of larger pots they had after planting. I had enough to transplant alot of my larger plants and saved alot of money on pots I would have had to buy.
I've seen those same black plastic pots at my favorite nursery on Bandera, Anaid....and stacks of trays. I'll have to go back out there and see if they sell them or give them out for free, which I doubt. Its really those darn styrofoam cups that seem to be giving me the crazies since they fall over so easily and you can't really get them side by side... : /

Melanie, I saw where you cut your milk jugs all the way down. I don't, and I leave the handle on for easier holding.
I just throw them in the car and then gripe about having to haul them all individually--lol
Actually cardboard boxes work just great--they won't get too wet in a few hours time and those black plastic trays the nurseries give you work great too. Any kind of canned good case-size box works great too. They are only 3-4" high.
Debbie
the no name brand coke trays and water bottle trays work great too...
Hmm....some interesting ideas, ya'll.....keep em' comin'..... Although I don't have far at all to get to the SA RU at Nada's place....I'm worried that as I turn a corner...all of my little cuttings and seedlings will go flying around my Honda SUV...lol :o
