Oops, I did it again......

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Couldn't help myself, Stopped by a small nursery the other day and they were clearing out their hibiscus to make way for pansies (which we plant in the winter here). Just had to have 4 more hibs at bargain prices (woo hoo, I FINALLY found a bargain).

Got a large singe red with yellow reverse, a Snow Queen, a pretty rosy red with good veins and this interesting one which has the small bright red flowers. This is a close up of the leaves which are varigated; a few have the traditional red white and pink but the majority are this green/burgandy color. The stems are red and it is a large shrub like plant, about 4' x 4' in a 3 gallon right now.

Carlos or Kyle, does this one have a name?

hmmm. I just know this as a variegated hibiscus. I realize variegated could be green/white, green/yellow, green/red like yours. sorry can't be more specific.

Could be Red Hot or a form of regular cooperii.

Hi,
If I am correct it is called "Red Wave" I just purchased mine a month ago. I will post a pic so you can compare.
I just love the color in the leaves and it grows very fast. Good luck with yours.

Polly, that is a beautiful plant. Is the color of your flower red or pink? In the photo yours looks more pink but that could be the camera; my camera frequently does not show the true color.

I am traveling this week but I will check my plant again as soon as I get home and look to see if the new growth is red like yours. Thanks for the lead. alice

Hi,
It's RED. My camera does the same thing when the light is different. It has to many buttons and I haven't figured it out yet. I tried to read the 1 inch thick book that came with it but I got bored....Sooner or later I will have to break down and read it...LOL

I have a variegated hibiscus that I bought at HD last summer. it doesn't bloom very frequently compared to the others and the blooms are small and red. I like the foliage however and I will try to get it to bloom in my sunroom this winter.
